About Julia

Julia Fletcher, RSW is a Registered Social Worker providing accessible, compassionate, and individualized social work services to children, youth, adults, and families.

Julia’s path to social work was shaped by a strong belief that support should be easier to access. Through her education, placements, and experience working alongside children, youth, families, and caregivers, she has seen how barriers such as long waitlists, limited local services, financial challenges, transportation, and difficulty navigating systems can prevent people from getting the support they need.

These experiences inspired Julia to build a practice centred around accessibility and meeting people where they are. She believes that seeking support should not feel intimidating or judgmental, and that clients deserve to feel heard, respected, and involved in decisions about their own lives.

Julia takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach to social work. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, she works alongside each client to understand their experiences, identify strengths and goals, develop practical strategies, and determine what types of support may be most helpful. Her services may include social work counselling, emotional support, psychoeducation, care coordination, resource navigation, referrals, advocacy, problem-solving, and support navigating systems and services.

Her experience includes working with children and youth, families, caregivers, and individuals with diverse needs. She has particular interests in supporting children and families, disability and accessibility, emotional wellbeing, life transitions, parenting and family support, and improving access to services in Northern and rural communities.

Julia’s practice is grounded in the belief that people do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out for support. Sometimes the first step is simply having someone listen, help make sense of what is happening, and work alongside you to figure out what comes next.

Support should be accessible, collaborative, and built around the person—not the other way around.

How I Started

My journey into social work began with a strong belief that everyone deserves access to support that feels safe, respectful, and accessible.

Through my education, placements, and experiences working with children, youth, families, and caregivers, I have seen how difficult it can be to access the right support. Long waitlists, limited services, financial barriers, transportation, rural and Northern communities, and uncertainty about where to turn can all make getting help feel overwhelming.

These experiences shaped the kind of social worker I wanted to become. I wanted to create a practice where accessing support could feel a little easier—without judgment and without requiring someone to navigate complicated systems alone.

My approach to social work is grounded in meeting people where they are. I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives, and my role is to work alongside them to identify their strengths, understand what is getting in the way, develop practical strategies, and connect them with resources and supports when needed.

Accessibility is an important part of my practice. Whether someone needs counselling and emotional support, help navigating services, care coordination, resource connection, or simply a place to talk through what they are experiencing, my goal is to provide support that is individualized, collaborative, and respectful.

Starting my own practice allows me to build the kind of social work service I believe people deserve: approachable, flexible, and focused on making support easier to access.
